PA Hoops Development
WHY
DEVELOPMENT?
We strongly believe that basketball, and all sports, are a great way to help young athletes grow and develop. There are many ways to achieve this goal. One of the ways is by challenging each one of our athletes every time they step on the court. What that looks like varies depending on each athlete. Some athletes are ready to compete in 5 on 5 full court games. For them, that is the best place to challenge themselves and get better. However most younger athletes, especially those who are new to the game, are not ready for that. Those athletes need individual attention, skill work, and small sided games to develop those newly learned skills. That is what the PA Hoops Academy Development Program will focus on…fundamental skills to help the athletes get better both on and off the court.
What is the development program? The program is broken down by age and abilities. We want the athletes to be comfortable in a group setting where they will be challenged but not overwhelmed. That is where development truly occurs. The groups meet three times a week. Twice during the week they participate in an hour long skill work session. On the third day, they will play small-sided games which allows them to work on the skills they have been developing. The program goes for 8 weeks and each week the skills will continue to advance as the athletes continue to grow.
